Polyarny – history of the Northern fleet

Fascinating bus tour

Polyarny – is a base of the Kola flotilla of the Northern fleet. It is the place, where combat and auxiliary ships and submarines stand at the piers. A small town on the shore of the Kola Bay is closed to ordinary tourists. You can only get here with a special pass. Nevertheless, we regularly provide fascinating excursions that are particularly popular among schoolchildren. To get one-time passes for 20 days, you must provide your passport or birth certificate of the tour participant.

Polyarny was founded at the end of the 19th century, but there are almost no old buildings left in the city. One of them is warehouses on the territory of the Kola flotilla Base. The “Circular house”, built in 1937 when the temporary main base of the Northern military flotilla was created in Polyarny, has also been preserved. In 1938, 2 more stone houses were built. One of them now houses the City’s local history Museum.
